TouchGrass Architecture grew out of Zishi Li’s pro bono designs in northern Guangxi, China through a nonprofit founded in 2017 (Guangnan Dong Architecture & Culture Preservation Center). Working closely within the village over time, Li developed a series of small, agile architectural projects in the settlement's fabric for its Dong culture to live and evolve.
Today, the practice moves between rural regeneration and urban interiors, renewing places that already carry their own life, history, and order. Rather than operating with predetermined styles or methods, Li begins by asking what the place fundamentally needs and what is already available locally, giving existing conditions new life with precise interventions.
